We’re become pretty pro at assembling lanterns and dismantling gazebos!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to The BreakDown this weekend! It was great to see you.

Katie, James, Charlie and myself all came away encouraged by the event, and we’re certainly going to look into doing another one at some point.

However, we’ve decided to do it differently this time. When we planned the first event, ‘Only You’, in August, it came together literally within a week. It seemed like we had very little control over it, and we simply spent the week trying to keep up with what God was doing!

A few days afterwards, we set about planning ‘A Beautiful Collision’, which took place this weekend. This time round, we felt that God was telling us to take a couple of months in between – and it’s a good job that happened! We faced several problems along the way, but we tried really hard to adjust and ‘just go with it’. It ended with a really lovely relaxed weekend, where we tried to go against our intuitions and loose control- and trust that God would take it wherever was best. Some of the things that happened truly amazed us, especially at the Primrose Hill Nursing Home event on Sunday.

However, we really feel like we should step back a little bit. We all know other young Christians in the area who God has blessed incredibly with different gifts… you might be one of them! We’ve decided that over the next couple of months we’re going to pray for these people, and possibly approach them and see if they would be interested in getting involved with another BreakDown. God has amazing plans for all of us as young people in the area, and we’d love to be able to pursue Him together as a group.

We have a vague plan… but this all might change quite drastically and quickly! At the moment, we’re thinking that we might see if we can pack out Starbucks in Huntingdon at some point at the end of December, see who’s interested, and then maybe… if it’s what we think God wants, see if we can throw together another BreakDown event within a couple of weeks. We want to give everything over to God, and just go with it. Of course, this might mean that it’s pretty unorganised, random or spontaneous… but who cares? It’s not our job to organise youth services; we’ve got amazing youth leaders who are called to do this! We simply want to grow in our faith together, serve people in the community together, and worship God togther. God knows what He’s doing… so we’re just going to go wherever He takes us. Pretty scary isn’t it? But that’s what The BreakDown’s all about- breaking down any barriers that we put between ourselves and God.

We’re really excited about the future, and hope that you… that’s right, YOU, will come on this journey with us!
